Pay No Mind

The carpenter bee

pays little regard

to the clamor

of dogs barking

and boys splashing,

intent on its

discoveries

   here

 and here

     and here

here

   and here

       and here

no matter the rain

that approaches

on tip toe

across the pond,

no matter the

strange woman watching

from the bridge above
